Women Leadership Training Programme II 2026

Date: 16 January 2026

Location: HKBU Campus

Organised by the Asian Energy Studies Centre (AESC) of the Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University, in collaboration with the Wong Tai Sin Bright Orchid Women's Association Ltd., the SEE “Women Leader Training Programme (II) — AI-Assisted Simplified Energy Audit and Practice” has been successfully completed.

The programme engaged over 50 women, guiding them to learn the fundamental concepts and applications of energy auditing. It aimed to train participants into community

energy auditors, while enhancing their capacity to influence energy use, energy-saving strategies, and climate action.

The programme was structured into three major parts. The team first introduced the basic concepts and workflow of energy audit, and explained how AI technologies can improve the efficiency and accuracy of data analysis and organisation.

Participants were then divided into groups to conduct on-site measurements and observations in locations such as a computer laboratory and the university cafeteria. Through these activities, they learned how to use simple measurement tools to collect data, observe equipment operation and electricity usage, and understand user behaviour.

In the second part, the team further explained how to analyse electricity usage, including calculating the electricity consumption in lighting and  Light Power Density (LPD), as well as evaluating the cost-effectiveness of energy-saving measures and estimating their

payback periods.

Finally, participants were required to complete a follow-up household energy audit assignment, in which they recorded the usage of home appliances and collected relevant data, enabling them to reflect on and review their own electricity consumption habits.
