International Symposium for Smart Energy Transitions in Asian Cities cum the Launch Ceremony of ALUN

Asian Energy Studies Centre (AESC), David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies (LEWI), Department of Geography (GEOG), and Department of Government and International Studies (GIS) of Hong Kong Baptist University are co-organising “International Symposium on Transdisciplinary and Cross-sectoral Partnership for Smart Energy Transitions in Asian Cities cum the Launch Ceremony of the Asian Low Carbon Cities-Universities Network (ALUN) in June 2022. This symposium is one of the major events under the 3-year Research Impact Fund project.



 

Symposium aims

1. To enhance BU’s global visibility as a research hub of excellence in the fields of sustainable energy in Asia through the launch of ALUN to establish long-term interdisciplinary research collaboration and foster students’ cross-cultural and experiential learning opportunities;

2. To promote interdisciplinary research through bringing ALUN scholars from East Asian institutions at one place to exchange knowledge and discuss on collaboration plans; and

3. To make policy impacts on Hong Kong’s 2050 Carbon Neutral Goal. The symposium will strengthen and catalyse interdisciplinary research on low-carbon transitions and expand social impact through fostering collaboration across academics, utilities, governments, business and civil societies in East Asia. The research finding will support evidence-based climate policy-making.
