We are delighted to share the success of our first Smart Energy Community Workshop, organised by Asian Energy Studies Centre, Hong Kong Baptist University, in collaboration with Wellspring Settlement, Bristol.
This workshop brought together young people from The Swannery Youth Group for an engaging and interactive learning experience on energy, sustainability, and community action.

💡 Empowering Young People through Co-creation
The session began with an introduction to the power of youth co-creation, highlighting how young people can play an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
Participants explored key concepts including:
What is a Smart Energy Community
The idea of Energy Saving Coins
How Energy Cooperatives work in real life

🕶️ Immersive VR Experience
In the second part, participants stepped into a VR experience set in a Bristol community, where they:
Explored local neighbourhoods
Engaged with different community stakeholders
Discussed real-life energy challenges and solutions
This interactive approach encouraged critical thinking and helped participants understand how different perspectives shape energy decisions.

🔍 AI Simple Energy Audit
The workshop concluded with a hands-on AI Simple Energy Audit activity, where participants learned how to:
Assess energy use at home
Identify opportunities for saving energy and reducing costs
Think like a home energy auditor
